WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY?

FAQ

Q: Who is Jesus? A:  In one sense, that is a question that can take a lifetime to answer.  But in another sense, that question can be answered and understood by a child.  Jesus is the Son of God, Who came to the earth both fully human and fully God.  He’s the centerpiece of the Bible and all of human history.  He lived a perfect life in every way and died the death that each one of us deserves making full atonement for our sin.

Q: What is sin? A:  Any lack of conformity to, or transgression of the law of God.  Every single one of us without fail is a sinner, both by nature and by action.  In other words, because we’re from Adam, we inherited sin nature and are born sinners.  Further, we sin because we’re sinners.  We reject God and rebel against His law, thus making us spiritually dead and unable to move towards God.

Q:  How can someone be saved? A:  By repenting and believing, or turning from sin and trusting in Jesus as your only hope of salvation.  Salvation is by God’s grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone.  Jesus declares “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)”

Q: Why believe the Bible? A:  The answer to this question is multi-faceted.  While you can’t “prove” the Bible, you can’t “prove” anything from history (even something as historical as the Holocaust), because to prove something means for it to be observable and scientifically repeatable.

What you can do on the other hand, is observe the evidence and decide which way the evidence points.  Is it possible that the whole Bible is made up?  It’s possible in the same way that it’s possible that the Holocaust was made up.  Photos and videos could be doctored or fabricated, eyewitnesses could be lying for no reason, survivors could be deluded, but that’s just not probable or reasonable.  Based on the evidence, the Holocaust happened in the way the history books tell us it happened.  There is a mountain of evidence that supports the claims of the Bible making it a reasonable and historical source.

The evidence for the historicity and truthfulness of the Bible is simply astounding.  While we won’t go into detail here, we would encourage you to do the research for yourself.  Read a book like "Why Trust The Bible?" , "Taking God at His Word", or “The Case For Christ”.

You should believe the Bible because it’s reliable truth, but there are more reasons to consider as well.  We’ve found this article to be helpful in articulating 5 reasons you should believe the Bible.
